Silver Ships recently delivered an Ambar 600 (AM600) patrol boat to the Candlewood Lake Authority (CLA) in Sherman, Conn.
The mission of the 20' workboat is to patrol the area covered by Candlewood Lake which includes Danbury, Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford and Sherman.
The new vessel is powered by a single Suzuki 300-hp outboard with a dual prop system. The dual prop setup is designed to achieve quick acceleration with higher fuel efficiency at cruising speeds as well as at the top of the RPM range. The patrol boat features an open center console and is equipped with a FLIR camera providing long-range, low-light visibility with thermal integration to facilitate both nighttime navigations and search and rescue operations. It also includes a twin-display Garmin electronics package with live sonar and radar screens.
The patrol boat is the second of three Ambar 600 series workboats ordered by CLA. In addition to this order, Silver Ships is currently designing a fourth vessel that will be utilized for marine research.
The CLA Marine Patrol has been providing public safety on Candlewood Lake since 1972. Dedicated to protecting the lake, the marine patrol promotes responsible recreation, conservation and stewardship of the lake.
