The demonstration of eLogs from ABS Wavesight pulled a huge crowd over to the ABS booth at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). Tyson Breedlove and Cesar Rodriguez from ABS showed the crowd the capabilities of the electronic logbook system designed to replace paper logbooks that simplifies user data entry and much more.

Rodriguez gave the crowd some examples of how the system reconciles inconsistencies while simplifying what are otherwise multi-stepped processes. Developed using the IMO Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) standards, eLogs aligns with SOLAS and BWM Convention principles and is MARPOL and SOLAS compliant.

The two took the audience through three separate scenarios that highlighted the advantages capabilities like the pre-population of certain fields and real-time advantages that the system enables. They also showed the final printable proof that the system creates, providing users with a printable record.

The demonstration highlighted the simplicity of the system that many users will be able to use with very little training and support, streamlining a recordkeeping processes that can newly involve other members of a crew.

“All of the feedback we received from users was about wanting to have everything in one spot, and that’s what you have here,” said Breedlove. “It’s so simple that just about anyone on a crew can use it quickly and effectively.”
