Silver Ships Inc., Theodore, Ala., recently delivered a Catamaran 26 model to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Mobile District. The company noted in a LinkedIn post that the design was focused on stability and maneuverability, crucial for navigating challenging waterways.

The 26’x 9.5’ vessel is equipped with twin 200-hp Yamaha outboards and a Honda EU3000IS  generator. Silver Ships noted this setup ensures optimal performance under various environmental conditions. Additionally, the vessel includes a Garmin electronics suite, enhancing its survey and navigation capabilities.

In April, Silver Ships delivered a Catamaran 26 model to the USACE New Orleans District. The New Orleans District vessel, Ducarpe, featured a Teledyne Marine Echotrac E20 echosounder and a Velodyne VLP16 LiDAR sensor. Silver Ships noted the Ducarpe was customized to significantly enhance the district’s survey capabilities.

Silver Ships’ website notes all aluminum newbuilds contain underwater seams that are continuously welded inside and outside, using 5086 H32 grade aluminum plates. At a minimum, bottom plates are ¼-inch thick.

The Catamaran 26 model offered by Silver Ships lists mission-specific outfitting options, such as a full climate control package with generator, dive door, bow gate, stainless steel davits, and a retractable hydrographic sonar mount.

WorkBoat reached out to Silver Ships for further specs on the Mobile District’s vessel.
