The 2015 Coast Guard Authorization Act requires the Coast Guard to commission a working group to review existing and new towing examination questions.
The National Maritime Center (NMC) will hold a deck exam working group for towing at the NMC in Martinsburg, W.Va., Sept. 12-14, 2023. The Coast Guard recommends that you have a towing endorsement to attend this session.
If you wish to attend and you have not been part of an exam working group before, please visit the Examinations page of the NMC website under the Working Group tab for complete application instructions, which will include sending in a résumé and non-disclosure agreement.

Examination question review is an opportunity to help the NMC and mariners make long-term improvements to the examination system.
