Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD) announced today that its Hunt Valve Company, Salem, Ohio, has been awarded purchase orders totaling $96 million to supply valves for the construction of 12 Virginia-class and five Columbia-class submarines. The contracts cover ship service ball valves and forged high-pressure system valves.
The FMD statement noted the contract ensures steady work for Hunt Valve over the next five years or more, enabling the company to invest in workforce development, machinery, tooling, and inventory.
