The National Maritime Center (NMC) will soon improve the quality and security of Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMCs) via an automated printing process.
The automated process will include a new laminate containing the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S. Merchant Marine seals, among other features, and improved print quality.
All currently issued and active credentials will remain valid until their printed expiration dates. There will be no change in the way endorsement labels are issued and applied to MMCs.
