Late last week, President Trump signed into law a continuing resolution (CR) that funds the government through the end of the fiscal year (9/30/2025), according to the Small Shipyard Grant Coalition.
The legislation repeats the FY2024 Small Shipyard Grant Program funding levels and means that Congress has formally provided $8.75 million for the next round of the Small Shipyard Grant Program.
While there are still technical questions about the potential for the “sequestration” of funds (technical term meaning that despite the Congressional appropriation, the funding can be withheld by the President), the Maritime Administration will otherwise publish a grant notice in the next two weeks, on or around March 31, making the funds available. Grant applications will be due May 14, and announcement of award selections on or around July 14. The coalition expects Marad will include the $8.75 million, plus any other amounts from previous years that were not awarded or otherwise turned back.
Please feel free to reach out to the coalition’s founder Dave Matsuda (dmatsuda@matsuda-llc.com) with any questions, or if you are looking for assistance with preparing your application.
