The Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal is out of service until further notice following a hard landing by Washington State Ferries’ (WSF) 328'2"x78'8" Cathlamet. The 5,000-hp sister vessel Issaquah will be the only boat on the route for now and will continue service between Southworth and Vashon. The ferry will not operate on its regular schedule and will just load vehicles before departing to its next destination to move as much traffic as possible, according to WFS officials.
Passengers should prepare for significant waits and are encouraged to take alternate routes if they still need to travel.
The Cathlamet was originally built in 1981 and rebuilt in 1993. The ferry holds 1,200 passengers and 124 vehicles. No injuries have been reported and the accident in under investigation.
