Danish offshore wind giant Ørsted announced on Monday that it has appointed Amanda Dasch as its new CEO for the Americas region. Dasch, an experienced U.S. energy executive, will lead Ørsted’s U.S. offshore wind operations amid challenging market conditions in the sector.

Dasch joins Ørsted from Shell, where she spent nearly 20 years, most recently serving as vice president of renewables in the Americas since 2022. Her departure comes after Shell’s announcement that it will halt new investments in offshore wind projects.

Dasch will join Ørsted on Jan. 13, the company said in an announcement.

Ørsted’s previous Americas CEO, David Hardy, announced his resignation from world’s top offshore wind developer to join U.S. wind giant GE Vernova in November.

In recent years, Ørsted has been heavily impacted by significant market challenges, including supply chain cost inflation and technical issues, booking billions in impairments due to U.S. project cancelations and delays.

Ørsted currently has nearly 11 gigawatts of American energy in development, construction and operation, it said.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Amanda to our leadership team and to draw from her 20+ years of energy experience in the U.S. to guide and advance our plans to build an American energy industry across technologies, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, and battery storage,” said Rasmus Errboe, Ørsted deputy CEO and CCO.
